Tombow Dual Brush Pen Review

The Tombow Dual Brush Pens are a more recent addition to my collection. I bought the ___ set from Amazon, and these are probably the most popular brush pens I see online. I think a big reason for that is the dual tip design. Each pen has a fine tip on one end and a large brush tip on the other, which makes them very versatile.
These pens use water-based ink, so they work really well for blending. The brush tip is fairly large but on the stiffer side, which gives you more control but less flexibility compared to juicier pens. The fine tip is great for details, outlines, and bullet journaling, which is where I see these used most often.

Overall, I would give the Tombow Dual Brush Pens three out of five stars. There are a lot of things to like about them. The ink is water-based and blends beautifully, the color range is huge, and the sets are really well curated. Having two tips in one pen also makes them extremely versatile, especially if you like switching between lettering and smaller details in the same piece.
That said, for the price, I personally would choose a different pen. I tend to prefer brush pens that are more juicy and flexible, and the Tombow brush tip feels a bit stiff for my taste. I completely understand why so many people love these though. They are relatively beginner-friendly, and their biggest strength is definitely versatility.
The downsides are mostly consistency and durability. Some colors behave differently than others. For example, my dark pink pen came very dry straight out of the box, while other colors were smooth and juicy. The brush tips also fray extremely easily, which is why I rated durability so low. Even when using smooth paper, I find that my Tombow pens wear down faster than many of my other brush pens. Because of that, I have to be extra careful when using them.
